The Battle of the Gwanga, Cape of Good Hope, June 8th 1846, in which the Royal Artillery, the 7th Dragoon Guards... defeated a large body of Kaffirs and the Cape Mounted Rifles under Henry Somerset CB, leaving between 5 and 600 dead on the field. The number of Kaffirs on the field was estimated at 9000.
